Abutment

An abutment consists of 3 separate springs. The spring in the middle is connected to node 0 (spring to earth), the left and the right one connect a part (beam node) and the free node of the spring to earth, respectively.

Note: To simplify the input, the program offers an input window to define all 3 springs at once. Afterward, the so created springs will be treated as separate springs.

The abutment may be entered before or after the chosen segment point. Two different types of abutments are possible:

  • Triangle – The outer springs are connected to the same part (beam node).
  • U-type – The outer springs are connected to different parts (beam nodes).

Each of the frames in the input window offers the input for one spring, where downwards the left, the middle and the right spring have to be entered.
